Bombers Fall Short At State
This was the Bombers first experience at the State tournament this year. It all began as the team caravanned to Manhattan to take on the BC Yankees. We started off with a BANG and scored right away. We played some tough defense and held the score 1-0 through the second inning. We then scored another run bringing the score to 2-0. The third inning, the BC Yankees begin to make a come back scoring 4. Top of the fifth and Bombers lost confidence and allowed the Yankees to move ahead. Final Score 2-12.
Saturday, Bombers started off with a 9:00 game against the Derby Tigers. Our loss from the previous day hurt us. With our confidence still down, we allowed them several runs right off the bat! Towards the end of the game, we began to fight back. However, it was a little too late. Tigers win!
The next game was at 3:00 against Grey's Academy Storm. They are a great ball team. We definitely were able to hang with them however, once again, we came up short.
Overall, it was a great experience. All the families enjoyed some R&R at the hotel swimming, miniature golf, ping pong and video games. Saturday night we celebrated one of the Bomber Mama's birthdays. Linette turned 29 (again) ;-)!!!!
Bombers will be taking a few weeks off and enjoying the rest of the summer before gearing up for fall ball. There will be several pool parties, get togethers etc. between now and then. School will be starting before we know it.
